One of Demitec's clients in northern Ontario had a major failure of a mill trunnion bearing resulting in deep scoring of the trunnion face. We were asked to provide and carry out a repair solution based on our experience and expertise. After lifting the mill approximately 7 feet, the discharge trunnion was machined in place bringing the face back to a serviceable condition. The bearing required medication with the installation of a shim between the socket and liner due to the decreased trunnion diameter. The project resulted in the mill back in service in a timely and reliable state, allowing for a resumption in production during the busy summer sales season.
